FPL's new rates took effect on January 1, with more increases scheduled through 2029. If you heat your pool, that's one part of the bill you can do something about. A standard heat pump runs at full power until the pool reaches temperature, shuts off, then starts again. A variable speed, or inverter, heat pump slows down instead and uses only the power the pool needs at that moment. Where the savings come from:
| ✓ | An inverter compressor that adjusts its speed instead of cycling on and off | | ✓ | A heat pump sized to your pool, not oversized for it | | ✓ | A variable speed pool pump, so the pump feeding the heater runs leaner too | | ✓ | A clean filter and good water flow, so the heater isn't fighting a clog |
Our article on the FPL rate hike explains how it works. The AquaCal TropiCal is one inverter option, and it cools the pool in summer too.
